A Transformation Built on Trust

Some projects are memorable because of the transformation. Others because of the people.

This one was both.

When we first stepped onto this property, there was already a landscape in place—but realizing its full potential meant being willing to rethink nearly everything. We removed much of what was there, brought large portions of the property back to dirt, and began again with a clearer vision for how the home, pool, landscape, and outdoor living spaces could work together.

And we did it with clients who were living out of state.

That could have made the process complicated. Instead, it became one of those projects that reminds us just how good the design-build experience can be when there is real trust and communication on both sides.

The Best Transformations Start With a Strong Point of View

Our design process wasn’t about simply making the existing yard prettier. We wanted to understand what belonged, what didn’t, and what the property could become if we stopped treating the existing conditions as limitations.

That meant making some big moves.

We stripped portions of the landscape back, reconsidered circulation and gathering spaces, integrated the pool into the larger composition, and designed a landscape that would feel connected rather than pieced together.

Every decision was made with both the finished space and its future in mind.

Because a landscape isn’t really finished on installation day.

Designing for the Glow-Up

One of our favorite parts of landscape design is knowing what a space is going to become.

We think about how the planting will fill in, where the canopy will develop, how materials will soften with age, and how a brand-new landscape will settle into something that feels like it has always belonged there.

Watching this property grow into itself has been incredibly rewarding. What began as a construction site—and, at points, a whole lot of dirt—is now layered, lush, and full of life.

The transformation is dramatic. But the growth is what gives it soul.

When the Plan Meets Real Life

Beautiful drawings are one thing. Building them in the real world is another.

Like any substantial landscape project, this one came with surprises and challenges along the way. Existing conditions revealed themselves. Details needed to shift. Decisions had to be made in real time.

That’s where having the design and construction process under one roof matters.

We could respond quickly, work through problems thoughtfully, and make adjustments without losing sight of the larger vision. The goal was never simply to “get through” the unexpected. It was to solve each challenge in a way that still served the finished project.

Hundreds of Miles Away. Still Part of Every Step.

Our clients trusted us with their home while they were living in another state.

We don’t take that lightly.

There was an enormous amount of trust involved in this project, and just as importantly, great communication in both directions. They gave us room to do what we do best, asked thoughtful questions, made decisions with us, and trusted the process even when they couldn’t walk outside at the end of the day and see the progress for themselves.

We loved working with them.

And frankly, we appreciated the hell out of that trust.

Because the best client relationships don’t feel transactional. They feel collaborative. There is an understanding that everyone is working toward the same thing—and that when something unexpected happens, you talk about it, solve it, and keep moving forward together.

That’s exactly what this project felt like.

And Then They Got to Come Home to It

There is something especially satisfying about creating a place for people who aren’t there every day to watch it take shape.

They trusted the vision long before they could fully experience it.

Now, the landscape has grown in, the pool feels at home within the property, and the spaces we imagined on paper have become places they actually live in—places to gather, unwind, swim, entertain, and simply enjoy being outside.

They love their yard.

We love that they love their yard.

But what makes this project especially meaningful to us is everything that happened between the “before” and the “after”: the ideas, the problem-solving, the conversations, the trust, and the shared belief that the end result would be worth it.

It was.
