This Bear Creek Project started with a beautiful, wide-open area beneath mature oak trees—but despite its size, the space wasn’t functioning as a usable part of the property.
Because the home’s more traditional backyard is largely devoted to the pool, this expansive area offered an opportunity to create an entirely new outdoor room for the family. We introduced lower-water grass, new patio spaces, a bocce ball court, and carefully selected dry-shade plantings that could thrive beneath the existing tree canopy.
The goal was to preserve the open, park-like character of the property while making the space comfortable, inviting, and genuinely useful.
Today, what was once an underutilized portion of the yard has become a place for gathering, playing, relaxing, and spending time with family and grandparents—all while maintaining the natural beauty of the mature oaks that made the space special to begin with.
